Herceg Novi
Herceg Novi has 260 sunny days per year. During summers, mainly in July and August, the town has on average 10.7 hours of sun per day. Herceg Novi Riviera stretches 15 km and embraces 7 different suburbs. With attractive beaches and excursions possible to places such as Zanjice and the Lustica and Borica peninsulas, it really does offer a wide range of possibilities for a relaxing break.
Herceg Novi is nowadays also known for its famous Igalo Institute. This health centre is the largest and the best-known institution for Multidisciplinary and European Spa Treatment in the Mediterranean. It has been at the forefront of modern physical and preventive medicine, rehabilitation, thalassotherapy, and wellness and has become one of the foremost international centres for paediatric, adult, and geriatric rehabilitation. Herceg Novi is a true treasure house: architecture ranges from oriental to baroque styles.
The town is dominated by Forte Mare, Spanjola and Kanli towers, which are nowadays used as open-air theatres for folklore, musical, film and theatre festivals. As Nobel prize winner for literature Ivo Andric, himself an inhabitant of the town, once said: Herceg Novi is a place of eternal greenery, sunshine and staircalses. Tivat Airport (Montenegro) is situated 22 km from Herceg Novi, whilst Dubrovnik Airport (Croatia) is 30 km away. Transfers to air ports are available.
